The Process of Getting Invisalign

The first step is to have your complimentary consultation with Dr Simon, our experienced dentist in orthodontics and Invisalign provider. He’ll discuss your needs and wants, then determine whether Invisalign is the best option for you or if you have any other primary needs to attend. Remember, the goal is to have a beautiful and healthy smile. Once your case is evaluated, and you are willing to start treatment. We will take a series of pictures, X-rays and digital scanning to create your aligners. Also, you’ll be able to see your 3D smile simulation, so previously you can see how your new smile is going to look.

When completed, you’ll return to the office and get your first set of aligners. You may be able to collect several at once, or can return to get the next set in the series when the time comes. You’ll switch out your aligners to a new set at regular intervals, with each beginning to make a greater shift in the alignment of your teeth.

Keeping Your Teeth Beautiful Post-Treatment

You want to make sure that you can maintain the incredible changes Invisalign makes to your smile. Often, we prescribe a retainer to wear after completing Invisalign treatment. It’s worn only at night on the back of teeth, making sure they cannot shift back out of place. We will explain whether this is appropriate for your case and all costs involved so that you know what to expect up front.

Invisalign FAQ’s

Can teens get Invisalign?
Invisalign offers an entire line of products dedicated to teens. They will fit your child’s growing teeth appropriately, allowing them to benefit from Invisalign treatment. The aligners even have an indicator mark on them that will show you if your child is wearing them as prescribed.
How long will my treatment take?
The length that you’ll need to wear your Invisalign aligners will depend entirely on the degree of changes that need to be made. Cases can go anywhere from six months to two years of treatment. Our dentists will be able to let you know what to expect at your consultation.
Will I have to repeat treatment later?
If you comply with all recommendations and advice, you will get the best results possible. In certain cases, it is possible the teeth will begin to shift out of place—for example, if you have a retainer but usually forget to wear it. With the proper care, you likely will not need to repeat treatment.
How can the aligners be cleaned?
You should clean your aligners daily. The perfect time to do it is when you brush your teeth in the morning. You can use water and a soft toothbrush to clean your aligners, scrubbing without much force to gently remove any buildup or debris.
Have you undergone specific training for Invisalign?
Yes. Our dentists have taken training to qualify as Invisalign dentists. You cannot offer this treatment without having gone through the proper studies.
What are the Invisalign aligners made from?
The aligners you’ll get are made from medical-grade, thermoplastic, high molecular weight polymers. They’ve been selected based on their safety classifications combined with strength. Tests show that the materials are biocompatible. Invisalign does not use any BPAs in the materials used for the aligners or during the production process to make the aligners.
If I wear metal braces now, can I switch to Invisalign?
It’s possible, yes. Often, a combination of metal braces and Invisalign is prescribed to get the patient the best results. If you’re interested in making the change, give us a call to speak about the possibilities.
